I've wondered the same thing in North Carolina. The NC lottery was fought for years and years but finally made it through (dishonestly I must add) because they convinced the public that the lottery monies would be used for education. What a big scam! The majority of the money goes to "management expenses" and a very insignificant amount goes to Education. Every week it seems we get something from the school as a money making project. Pictures, wrapping paper, candy, flowers, anything they can possibly have the kids sell to make money for the schools. On top of it, I spend between $50 and $100 at the beginning of each year to buy paper, pencils, pens, sharpeners, scissors, erasers, markers, crayons, copy paper, and tissues for use in the classroom. Isn't that supposed to be what our tax money goes for? Sorry for the rant but it just doesn't seem fair to me.

By the way, excellent question!

Being from South Carolina that is a good question. My kids used to bring fundraisers home to help raise money for the school to get new computers, playground equipment, etc. Why have the frigging SC state education lottery if it is not going to be used for that. I think they should do away with it if they are not going to use it as it was intended.

Dang good question, and I am paying through the nose for all these stinking fundraisers that our K-12 public schools are holding. The lottery for education argument was a scam from the beginning.

People in Detroit want to know the same thing....the lottery takes in a large amount of money, but it is allocated unfairly...the money is there in that state somewhere, just not in the places they claimed it would be.

FEDS CUT FUNDING TO STATES... THANKS FOR NOTHING BUSH.

STATES HAVE HARD TIME REPLACING THAT MONEY FOR EDUCATION. DON'T WANT TO RAISE TAXES.

COST CONTINUES TO RISE IN ALL STATES.
THIS WAR BUSH STARTED IMPACTS THOSE WHO HAVE LESS.

GOP IS TO BLAME NOT STATES..
I'M IN NORTH CAROLINA. OUR LOTTERY JUST STARTED BUT NOT A MAGIC CURE FOR EDUCATION.

REGARDLESS AS LOTTERY MONIES COME IN TO HELP FUND EDUCATION--TAX DOLLARS ARE TAKEN FROM EDUCATION TO USE IN OTHER STATE NEEDS.

BOTTOM LINE ---BUSH AND GOP ARE BANKRUPTING STATE TREASURES.
BLAME GOP FOR HIGHER COST--EDUCATION--WELFARE-FUEL COST==MEDICAL-PRESCRIPTION MEDICINE.

COST OF VOTING A FOOL INTO OFFICE..
