I am about 18 weeks along. Healthy etc. Last appt. the heart rate was at 130 bpm. My sister-in-law is also pregnant, we are due on the same day WEIRD! BUT true LOL. Her fetal bpm was 160 and today she found out it was a girl.

You cannot go by the heartbeat. If that were accurate, I would be one girly looking boy right now. LOL! Good Luck!

I am 26 weeks with a boy, had my app today, His heart beat was 130, but last month it was 160 and has been until now. I don't think that is accurate at all. Heart rate is different threw the whole pregnancy. Between 130-180 is normal.

A heart rate of 130 bpm shows that your baby has a nice, strong beating, heart. Congrats, Mom. The heart rate does not show whether or not you are having a boy or girl, however. This seems like common sense to me.

The old wive's tale would say it's a girl, but that is not a good predictor. By that measure, my 2 year old son would be a girl. (His heart rate was in the 170's through most of my early pregnancy.)

well there is no scientific evidence to back it up, but it was right in my pregnancy, my babies heartbeat was always over 140 and it was a girl. you are probably having a boy, since the rule is if the heartbeat is 140 or higher its a girl. congrats!!!

My doctor told me that the heartbeat stays higher for a girl, lower for boy. My baby's rate was 127 at my 18 week checkup. Doctor says it's a boy. :)

that is an old wives tale, nothing can predict what you are having. All though I would place my bets on that it is a boy.

Not a true predictor.
Both of my girls should have been boys by that "test."
My OB said that it's all bunk.
