You really have no choice other than to clean carpet with a vacuum cleaner. You can also use a vacuum on a laminate floor, but you still need to follow up with a dust mop with some sort of static cling spray in order to get a good shine on the floor.

Good luck with your floorcare projects.

with a vacuum? definelty carpet, but, dust and sand fall through the fibers in your carpet, some vacs do better than others, but, your best bet, if you want the easiest to keep clean, buy Laminate, and use a dust mopand wet mop. If you use a vacuum on a laminate floor, be sure you use a brand that you can put the setting on bare floor, if not, the roller/brush under the bottom, can scratch your floor.

If you ever pull up a carpet in order to install laminate, you will have your answer. You have no idea how much dirt penetrates the carpet and is building under the pad. Laminate is best any day.
