I'm a big horror movie fan, and they all touch a tender spot inside me. Like Zombie and Vampire movies especially and the funny horror flicks you mentioned, (Speaking of which there actually is a Vampire vs. Zombie movie). However the last horror movies that I have really enjoyed and actually been moved by are the sort of "religious horror movies" like Frailty, Exorcism of Emily Rose, Constantine, Ninth Gate. I think that those movies scare me more because I'm one of those people that doesn't understand people's obsessions with their religions. I'm not religious, but there is alot of mystery in spirituality, and alot of strong emotions from other people. It trips me out, to say the least. I don't know if it's all in the mind or for real. Spoooky stuff.

I enjoy the regular psycho killer movies because they're easiest to make fun of. Zombie movies can just get too gross, ghost movies are plain and boring (usually), and vampire movies went out of style in the 90's. There's nothing more fun than watching a psycho chase some idiots around in the dark and just talk about how lame the acting is and how stupid these people would be in real life. lol

I love zombie movies (Dawn of the Dead and 28 Days Later), but I also like horror movies based on true events (Amityville Horror and Texas Chainsaw Massacre).

It must be frightening or it won't work. The "Friday the 13th" series was too predictable to frighten, so in my opinion they are not very high quality horror films. A couple of recent examples of good horror films would be "The Ring" and "The Blair Witch Project." Older examples would be "Jaws" and "Duel," both by Spieldberg. Hitchcock was good at it. Sometimes De Palma really scores big.

The Shining is my fav. it has jack, and Directed by Stan the man. Type of movie I love are the Zombies and Evil Dead. The only thing wrong with Horror flix is all the crappy ones. It's where up and coming Dircters cut their teeth. Psychological horror are the greatest

I like mental thrillers with a big twist at the end rather than a lot of just guts and gore. One's that kinda keep you guessing and then throw something at you at the very end that you just never saw coming or that you least expected. That, to me, is the mark of a good horror movie: thriller and mystery combined...
Identity was a good flick - that twist at the end was great.
Sixth Sense was another good "horror" flick with a twist that I'm sure EVERYONE knows by now. :o)

Definitely a good slasher/serial killer film. Since they are horror movies, they're supposed to scare the crap out of you so anything where it's possible it could happen, is definitely scary.
The best horror film ever the, hands down, is Halloween!
