Like you know, how they say that the falling gas prices are only low because of the upcoming election, but as soon as it ends, they will go back up sopposedly....well can the market be manipulated like that?

The upcoming elections? No; elections usually cause uncertainty in the market.

And the market CAN be manipulated, but only in the very short term (something like a few days, at most).

If you watch the market over the long run, it only goes one direction: up.

No election effect is not yet started on dow, its up because of falling crude price, results given by some companies are really good, as well there were very few hurricane threat, these all factors are leading dow up. and one more thing fed has kept interest rates unchanged and some people expect cut in interest rates.

High closing mostly related to earnings releases in the 3rd quarter. In addition, oil prices and anticipation of the fed meeting tomorrow. Traditionally, 3rd quarter is full of optimism.
