I think you're asking something reasonable. Nobody wants to be pregnant for that long. I gave birth at 39 weeks and could bearly handle it. So go ahead by then you're baby should be alright!

Most doctors are happy to do inductions after 39 weeks. The question is, though, is it good for you and the baby? Induction makes for a harder labor and is more likely to end in surgery or non-surgical instrumental delivery, and distress to the baby. The baby may also not be ready to be born, even if s/he is past term (assuming you are totally sure about gestational age.) Some babies normally gestate longer, normal for some is 42-44 weeks. And babies that are not ready to be born have more health issues and are harder to care for.

the doctor will probably recomend an induction. It's not good for babies to stay in the womb past 42 weeks bc the could have a bowel movement while inside of you and that can cause an infection.

I was induced at like 39 weeks and all went well! I don't think that is to soon at all! You definitely wouldn't want to wait to long or you could end up with a c-section if the baby is tooooo big :o)
Good Luck and congrats!

the dr will probaly agree with you. they usually don't let pregnancies go past 42 weeks anyway. the longer the baby is inside the chance of a bowel movement increases. it is a good idea to ask about induction.

Talk to your doctor he knows you best. I gave birth right at 40 weeks and pushed out a 10lb 5 oz baby. Good luck!

It is very rare they let you go over now a days. Since the risk
of the baby having a BM inside of you gets higher and higher.
This happened to my cousin. She and the baby were very sick because of it.
I would be demanding your OB induce you TODAY!

Yes, its a reasonable request if they think the baby is in danger. Hopefully, you'll be in labor before you ask about induction.
All the best with the baby!

completely and utterly respectful, they might do a stress test first to make sure the baby can handle the induction. Good luck, hope you get the answer you want.

I don't think it's unreasonable at all. Hopefully, your doctor can do something to help you along, i.e., stripping your membranes, before that. Even better, maybe the munchkin will emerge before that! Good luck!
