They definitely can, although it depends on your wide area network set-up. Some business remote offices connect directly to the internet--not via the internet connection that the home office has. If you get to the internet via a "backhauled" internet connection to their office, it is very easy to track web communications. If you have a local internet connection (DSL, for example), it is a little harder. They may have to have installed a web content filter (or proxy) at your site, or they may need to remotely view the logs that your firewall generates.
Messenger chats aren't yet monitored by a lot of companies...although they should be. More and more companies will begin monitoring this in the future.

the internet has no distance. They can monitor you. Its the internet and anywhere the internet is they can monitor you. Allt hey need is access and since its your company they willingly have access.

why not, its still over the internet. of course, there might be delays, and they might not be able to call your discipline coordinator right away or have to eamil him (her), but it is possible to view anything on the internet
