On Sunday I went out to my Audi 2000 A4 to get into it and it was acting really weird. I put the key in and opened the door and the alarm went off. So I put the key back in but it didn't turn the alarm off. So I took the key and put it in the trunk key hole and that shut it off. Well. Turns out my battery was dead. So I replaced that but what's weird is my alarm won't set now. It won't let me lock or unlock my doors with turning the key. It will work with the trunk though. the alarm sets and everything. But if I set the alarm with the trunk key hole and I open the door with the door key hole it will set of my alarm. I'm sure there is something simple I can do to fix it but I don't know what?

Don't sweat it, it is just out of sync. I have a A4 and had the same hassle. go unlock the drivers door and then push the remote. It should work after that!

You may need to reprogram.I have a Mercedes and when I got a new key I had to press the little button on the key and hold it til the light on the door handle flashed.Took about 90 seconds. If that doesnt work call service at the Audi dealer.

take the battery cable off and wait a few minutes,, actually short the battery cables together this way no voltage will be in any system in the car, ( I AM NOT SAYING SHORT THE BATTERY<< JUST THE CABLES DISCONNECTED FROM THE BATTERY)

then attach the power first and then the ground second,
