I think if the majority of Scots really wanted total independence they should have it! Though I find it a pretty moot point though (maybe because I'm not Scottish), in an age where most of Europe is being drawn together it seems Scotland's actual position would be little changed in actual fact I think if Scotland were to become totally independant the main winner would be English Democracy as currently Scots have their own parliament but also have M.P.s in Westminister that makes legislation for England. But this point is a minor one I think in a time of such social discord it's best for people with common history and heritage should stick together!

They already have a totally independent national identity. They have a recognised history as a country and a people. Their legal system is different as is their education system along with their banks and monetary system. Should they vote for independence at some point in the future surely no democratic system would deny it when we are trying to promote democracy around the globe.
They have the means and the ability even if one doesn't take oil and gas into the equation to be a prosperous and valued member of the EU in their own right.

Simply because they can't afford it! The amount of money that is sent to Scotland from England is massive. There are 60million people in England and about 2million in Scotland, and the average wage is dramatically less. Scotland could afford its own office let along new Parliament building!

it does not make a difference whether scotland is independent or not because all the powers are going to Brussels so you might as well stick around in the UK.
