I would think it's a good idea. I know when I set up a new tank, I always use bottled water to start out, and I've never had any problems....

With tap water you have to worry about Chlorine and all that other crap in the water, that is far more harmful.

Make sure you have a good filter (goldfish are dirty little guys), and some live plants, and you should be fine.

Uh.. depends what you mean by "filtered".

If you're talking about using spring/bottled/distilled water to fill your tank and for water changes, it's really not a good idea. They tend to be extremely soft which can lead to pH swings (which can eventually cause fish death). They also lack trace elements which are essential for a healthy fish environment. Your best bet is just to use tap water, and treat it with a good dechlorinator/dechloraminator.

If you're talking about keeping goldfish in a filtered tank, then yes, it is actually in the fish's best interest. Keeping the tank filtered will cut down on ammonia and nitrites, and it will help keep the water clear. You'll still have to do weekly water changes, but it's better than the daily changes you'd have to do without it.

Depends on how much the filtered water is filtered. If it's just one of those things that attach to the faucet then it is fine.
