The ocean is beautiful and relaxing.
I live on the coast of maine and I am 5 min away from the ocean...
sometimes I like to sit on the beach at night when no one is around and play my guitar...it's very peaceful.

Yes, I have seen the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans (and I'm soon to see the Arctic ocean). They were both amazingly beautiful, however, the nicest water I have ever seen was in Alberta, Canada in the Rocky Mountains. The lakes and rivers there collect the runoff from glaciers, and they thus turn a milky sort of turquoise (can range from green turquoise to light to dark turquoise), yet when you get close, they are crystal clear. I have never seen anything so beautiful in my life; I'm just glad I saw the oceans before seeing these lakes because I think I would have been disappointed! So if you're upset about never seeing the ocean, there are many other beautiful places to see no matter what country you live in!

Nothing compares to the relaxing look and sound of waves continually welling and lapping, soothing and lulling. If you're down on sea level it can actually look dark green to dark gray.

I grew up on the Atlantic coast of Nigeria (my favorite beach at the time), then lived on the Gulf of Mexico in Texas, and now am on the Pacific coast of the U.S. While waiting to get to the ocean (and I'm sure you will before long), rent Il Postino for a great vicarious experience of the sight and sound of the sea. The incomparable poetic description by Pablo Neruda will be a wonderful added bonus.

Blessings to you. Sounds like you have much art in your soul! : )

Ocean color varies widely with the temperature, sediment and other life forms. In northern California it is usually green and all down the coast is murky because of sediment. Ocean around Cozumel and in southern Thailand is very clear and warm, sometimes blue, sometimes an azul. In some northern areas it is gray from the cold and in southern Cal & Florida, it is often red from the toxic algae blooms.
I would recommend getting the Blue Planet DVDs. They are the current best video of the oceans.
Check this out for a description and maybe your library will have it

I am sure someone will be able to tell you the bluest ocean but I lived in So. Ca. and when I was a kid it was wonder full at the beach, it is more of a green blue and the waves have white caps on them.
Now in So. Ca in the summer some of the beaches are closed due to some waste product being dumped in them.
Sorry but that's the truth.

Yes...just very nice blue. it is light blue same as sky when there is some atoll down below. And dark blue when it is deep ocean.

I live in Ohio and I saw the Atlantic in 1982 on my honeymoon. I saw the Pacific when I was in LA before Christmas in 1995.

No words or pictures can describe it. You've got to take a trip sometime and see for yourself. It's just gorgeous, unlike anything you have ever seen.

well i live in california, and here, the beaches are not pristine blue, just like in the movies, the're dark blue, and brown. There was even one time when it was red. (possibly from blood)

But i would guess that its better in other places, like in mexico or europe or something.
