I would say no, you are kinda making an anti establishment statement if you buy one without earning the letter, if that is who you are then go for it, but otherwise I would say better hold off. You could always date someone with one and ware his...

ok. Your question and different responses make me sense old, for the first time, on YA. i'm 40-one. i think out of contact now with some on your technology because I actual do not comprehend why it would not be alright to placed on the jacket. you've earned that jacket, no? Your accomplishment and delight of fulfillment do not basically without caution disappear because you at the instant aren't to any extent further in extreme college, do they? Why might want to or not that's dorky to placed on the jacket? If some thing, i imagine it would want to be better dorky to no longer placed on a wonderfully strong jacket because you've been hectic if others might want to imagine you've been dorky for wearing one. some grown adult men, of their 30s and 40s, placed on their college classification earrings. some retired professional athletes placed on their championship earrings. what's the version? If that's the letter that insects you, get rid of the letter. there is truly a lengthy custom of people doing that.

I'd say sure, it shows school spirit! Course I went to school a long time ago but recall several people getting them and didn't play a sport. Don't forget if your doing other activities as well. Drama club, math club, debate team, school newspaper, so I say go for it!

You could get one but what would be the point of getting it if you didn't play a sport?

Yes you can. You can letter in almost any elective...Theatre, Choir, Atheletic Training etc.
Or you can go to an Athletic Supply store and buy one. It's not a big deal, you just won't have the patches on the sleeves.

all you have to do is go to your local sports shop that the school buys them from and buy it. Anyone can go in and buy one...it doesn't matter if you play sports or not....you are showing your school spirit by wearing the jacket!!!!!

Anyone can buy the coat, but you have to "earn" the letter by participation in Sports, Band, Theater, Academics, etc.

sure you can buy one.
Go to a nieghbodhood Wal-Mart. They sell them there.
Just like you can by a class ring for a school you never went to. They are nothing special. They do not mean anything.
The "letter" itself is handed out by the school. The giant letter on the jacket is given to people asociated with the school sport.
