My husband had a vasectomy against my wishes about 2 years ago. He has regrets and of course I didn't want it in the first place. Is reversal even a practical or affordable option? What are the chances of pregnancy after a vasectomy? I've heard of couples getting pregnant despite a v-sect. What are other affordable / practical options of conceiving?

My husband had a vasectomy when he was married to his first wife. After we were married we started looking into having it reversed. We went to a doctor outside of Houston Texas who specializes in reversals. In fact he guarantees that he will have sperm restored or you get your money back. We spent about $10,000 cash to have it done. After 6 weeks we went in for the first sperm test to see if there were sperm and there were. We then tried for about 4 years to get pregnant and had no luck. My husband had his sperm count checked and found out it was VERY low (about 800,000). We then went to a urologist who did some tests and told us that he had scar tissue which was blocking the sperm output. He put my husband on Clomid and said that it would only help a little, but we might see an improvement. After 3 months his count was only up to about 1.3 million. Our fertility doctor told us that we should start trying IUI, but at the time we did not have the money and I had just started a new job, so we agreed to wait a few months and then do IUI. We were pregnant on our own about 3 months later.

As far as I am concerned it was well worth the $10,000 because now I have my most precious gift from God, my son!

Well, my husband had his vasectomy done when he was married to his ex-wife. When we got married it was the plan to have it reversed ASAP. I started doing internet searches and found a Dr. in Tampa Florida that specializes in reversals as well as vasectomies. We live in Upstate NY so I figured the price would have to be right to travel to FL for a week. This was 13 months ago and it cost us $3500 total for the reversal. The doctor said that we should have no problem according the sample that was sent in. We have not been successful up until now. (However, I am 4 days late :) All I can say that it is worth a try if you are wanting more children. The website for the doctor we went to is www.vasweb.com

Best of luck!

Vasectomy reversal is definately an option. Since the vasectomy was only a few years ago, your chance of success is good. The cost ov vasectomy reversal varies significantly depending on the doctor that you choose. It can be as low as 2000 and as high as 10,000. http://myvasectomyreversal.com/2006/02/cost-of-vasectomy-reversal.html

Although cost is certainly a factor there are other things you want to consider when choosing a vasectomy reversal doctor. http://myvasectomyreversal.com/how-to-choose-a-vasectomy-reversal-surgeon/56/

Other options for conceiving are In-Vitro-Fertilization, which is much more expensive, or using donor sperm.
Good luck - I say, find a doctor you trust and go for it! The trying is certainly fun.

now and again it is basic to get a touch one, however if the guy has had a vasectomy. It handed off to my aunt. or you would possibly want to apply donor sperm, notwithstanding you perhaps type of iffy about this. Adopting a baby might want to also paintings.
