Very small with today's technology.
Do you have any prexisting conditions that would make your odds higher?

We can't answer this question without knowing more about you.
Do you have any blood-clotting disorders? Are you experiencing any complications? How old are you? With what ethnic group do you identify? Is this your first child? Will you be delivering vaginally or surgically? Is the baby full-term? How far are you from a hospital? The list goes on and on and on...
In hospitals in America, birth has become a very safe event. Still, mothers who deliver via C-section are three times more likely to die during or immediately after childbirth than mothers who deliver vaginally. (That's after correcting the data for emergency situations, etc.) Different types of anaesthesia and pain killers have different risks, too.
So you'll just have to ask your doctor, and get an answer specific to YOU and your situation.

Extremely slim to none if you are in the U.S. and birthing at least close to a hospital. Modern medicine does wonders. I *thought* I was going to die during birth!...but was far from it. You'll be fine. The worst thing you can do for an upcoming labor is to worry. Worrying and stressing about it will actually increase your chances of having complications. Trust that millions of years of evolution has given your body the amazing gift of knowing exactly how to birth your baby *PERFECTLY*. So...RELAX!!! Take a bubble bath and eat some ice cream (or at least that's what I did). Congrats!

In todays world not at all likely. If you have been seeing a Dr. during pregnancy they wiil know long before birth if there are any problems. Giving birth is a very natural act. Been going on since the beginning of man. Relax & don't worry, will make things go easier too.

in this country and other industrialized nations? almost none at all. Especially if you have been to the OB's regularly during your pregnancy.
Usually its a 1 in 4000 rate in america, the causes are not having a doctor, or not getting follow up care after birth. Its generally the fault of the women for not going to the doctor. 1 in 8000 in canada (they have simpler health care and more women have doctors there).
Its about the same as being attacked by a shark.

The chances of you dying are extremely low to begin with, and if you are healthy and allow your body to give birth under conditions that will facilitate normal labor (i.e. avoid managed medicalized birth) your chance of dying is virtually nonexistent. Birth is really not the scary dangerous thing people have been conditioned to think it is -- the body knows very well what to do and is capable of doing it if it's not interfered with, as well as it can keep your heart beating, digest your food, etc.

Very slim honey. Thousands of women give birth every day all over the world, and they survive.
Please don't be this negative about chilbirth, it's a natural thing that has a very very very low fatality rate.

Not very likely at all so worry about other things! Like catching some zzzzzzz's before the baby is born and it's too late.

we are so lucky to have the health care we have today. chances are so low that you will not recover from child birth, i had an abruption, bled half way out, baby was in grave danger, had an emergency c-section and both of us came out healthy and strong.
