Ok, trying to relate the 2:

Descartes believed in doubting all things until they were proven. He started with knowing that he existed because he thought. He didn't trust his memory since it could be manipulated. He believed in a benevolent God. He based his knowledge about the world through perception (through his senses) and deduction.

In the Truman Show, the main character exists because somebody wants him to by creating a world around him. He is not necessarily a benevolent person. He starts doubting things, thinking things are not what they appear to be. What does he believe in? It is a anti-conversion piece in which everything he takes for granted is not what it seems to be and his only remaining belief is the thought (of the girl from his past) to keep him going.

I see them more as opposite as having things in common. Descartes starts at a base and builds his reasoning from there. Truman starts with his world and comes out knowing nothing. They both are skeptic about the world around them.

They both address ideas of existentialism.
