The best way would of course be to ask Mr. Bush, if he were to be trusted to speak the truth, which I doubt. But I think that for a great part the answer might just as well be that stupidity and stubbornness are closely related here. Why admit that you have made a mistake when you consider yourself to be a world power?

The hidden agenda is the rebuilding of Babylon. There is a huge US Embassy building being constructed there which is large enough to house the UN once completed. Given enough time and the right circumstances the UN, or a replacement body, will set up shop in this building and when the New World Order finally takes its place as the governing body of the world it will run the show from the rebuilt Babylon. A man with much charisma, let's call him AC, will bring peace in a time of chaos. He will lead the world for about 3 and 1/2 years in seemingly perfect harmony with little problems in isolated parts of the world. Then things will become disastrous and people will wish they were dead because of the horrible conditions brought on by a one world government.
Just a hunch.

You might be on to something! Is it conceivable that maybe the war in Iraq isn't the fight for freedom or democracy?
I think we figured out this one a while ago. My first clue is when Bush declared war on the wrong country.
Just a hunch.
Just had to add this because most of you don't see the real hidden agenda. The reason for the Amercan presence in Iraq is not for the oil. Several US dignitaries have interests in companies willing to "assist" in the rebuilding of Iraq. I'm not just talking socially or democratically, I'm talking infrastructure, civil etc. These contracts would be worth billions, yet the US is not allowing outside tenders to be acknowledged. Thats the hidden agenda. Destroy Iraq, then "offer" to rebuild in exchange for money and/or resources.
They didn't do it in Afghanistan because there is no money there, and nothing to rebuild or take advantage of. Yet that is where the taliban resides. (Just a reminder to those that forgot, it was the "Taliban" not the "Al-Quida" that caused 9/11)
Remember that this is war based on propognada on both sides, not reason.
Lets put it this way, if the American government is so concerned about freedom, democracy and civil liberties of people from other nations, then how come nothing has been done about the blatant communist travesties occurring in CHINA? The answer is simple, because China can fight back and win.

If it was just the oil, why wouldn't the feds simply open ANWR to drilling? Or the Petroleum Reserve in Alaska? An overwhelming majority of Alaskans support opening ANWR, but outsiders keep stopping it. Pretty sad that people whine about us being a "welfare state" yet only 1% of all Alaskan land is privately held - the rest is state and national parks or owned by native corporations.

They are staying because the job is not done. Noone is there for oil or WMD, they are there to contain Iran.
Here's two examples of how the left presents 'ideas'. Can you see a pattern?
-The ONLY reason we are in Iraq is because of WMD, which hasn't been found
-The ONLY reason to vote for democrats is Mark Foley.
(if you don't see a pattern, look again, it is there!! hint. it's a small sliver of an idea that the media can write about for 5-18 months straight without breaking a sweat)

Hidden agenda???
I think that America has been quite clear in it's motives. America wants a stable democracy in power in Iraq (As opposed to the previous dictator who tried to gain additional world power by invading Kuwait). Unfortunately, the various ethnic and religious groups seem to be more interested in vying for power than they are in forming a unified government.
Nobody wants the U.S. Army out of Iraq more than Americans. The sooner the Iraqis quit infighting and pull together a stable constitutional democracy in which all of the various ethnic parties share responsibility as Iraqis the sooner we can wrap this mess up and the American solders can come home.

I hate to tell you this because I know how painfull it will be, but things have gone exactly as the neocon cabal hoped. Its not about anything other than money, the only things that motivates beurocrats and defense contractors alike. I put a link to a spot where you can download an excellent BBC documentary called "Why We Fight", but it is definitly not going to leave you with a warm fuzzy.

I have not thought or heard that suggestion. Its possible, the leader of Iran is a brillant madman a leathal combination. He seems the radical type in that he wants to act on his beliefs for his own cause. I personally wish we never invaded despite 9/11 but we all know its to late for that. WOULD IF N.KOREA JOINED IN AS ALLIES IN A COMMON CAUSE AGAINST THE U.S. AND ITS POLICIES IF A CONFLICT AROSE.

GREED May be true.
Yet I think the EGO of Bush wants to prevail..
I came I saw I conquered.
He can't admit his mistakes and can't take critism.
His own party GOP ready to cut losses and withdraw.
Torture prisons and Git-mo hangs over his head.
When we do withdraw those questions must be faced.
Bush is a liar who wants to keep this coverup going and avoid
complete and utter destruction of his administration.
He can't avoid investigation if democrats take back congress.
Even a stacked Supreme Court can't save him (5 of 9 justices are Catholics--hatred for Muslims)
I for one would love to see him face impeachment.
Listen to more crude lies.
More people taking the blame for him.
Watch his ego crash and burn--like Nixon.
