Why don't you do it on an ancient civilization such as the Egyptians, or the Aztecas. You could search up Aztec or Mayan history, then they would probably give you some famous warriors and gods. With the Egyptians, you could probably do it on Imhotep.

William Mulholland is the man who built the great Los Angeles-Owens River Aqueduct, which he started in 1905. He was an uneducated Irish immigrant who came to this country (US) and literally changed the face of America. He was also well-loved by his contemporaries and employees, but unfortunately history has painted him (falsely, I might add) as a robber-baron. If you want to learn more about him, check out my MySpace site...

Click on the VIDEOS link below my picture, and you'll be taken to a page that has a number of video clips about Mulholland from my film A Test of Integrity.
Most people will go for classic historic figures in the assignment you're doing. Almost nobody will think of Mulholland, so if you do him, you'll have some uniqueness on your side!

Upton Sinclair. I think he was before 1910 but not too sure. He was a muckracker. Investigated the meat packing industry and exposed them on all the nasty stuff they were putting in their meat before the FDA had regulations. For example, people's hands would get stuck in the grinders and they wouldnt take the ground up hand out of the meat. Left it in there for the world to eat. Gag!! Anyway I thought he was very interesting to learn about.

Do Teddy Roosevelt! He was awesome! War Hero, capable of reading 3 books a day, and did more for wildlife with the starting of National parks than any othe rpresident. Plus he is the one who decided that the Panama Canal should be built! He was a visionary! Seriously, think about it!

Alexander the Great or Attila the Hun but note: the movies are not too accurate so you need to do additional reading to get the REAL story.
