Dude. Work it out!

First take the 350 away from the total of 3650. This gives you 3300, right? Now divide by 2 to get the smaller barrels volume. Add 350 to that smaller volume to get the bigger volume.

Try giving these some thought. You can do it yourself and feel good about it, instead of feeling like a loser for cheating.

This is what you call hard??!!
x+350=y
x+y=3650. We disregard A and B because they dont add to 3650.
Taking c, 1950-350=1600, and we already saw that 1950+1600 doesnt give 3650.
Therefore the answer is D.
You can also check if D is correct by the following
2000-1650=350. and 2000+1650=3650.

Process of elimination, also works well when you dont know the answer and have to guess.

3650 - 350 = 3300

Therefore the old barrel holds: 3300/2 = 1650

The new barrel therefore holds: 1650+350 = 2000

The answer is D.

Now study that and make sure you understand how it's done! You cheating scoundrel :)

The tanks hold 3650 barrels. one hold 350 more so subtract it you get 3300 barrels then divide by two and you get 1650 one hold 350 more. so add it to what is half (1650) = 2000 so one hold 2000 and the other hold 1650 a total of 3650.

D. Only C and D add to 3650. C has 250 more barrels. D has 350 more barrels, so it's the right answer.

D.

subtract 350 from 3,650
then divide 3,300 by 2
you get 1, 650 that is the small barrel
add 350 you get 2000 that is the new barrel

x+x+350=3650......so 2x+350=3650.....2x=3300 ... x=1650 then new is 1650+350.

new tank = old tank + 350
new tank + old tank = (old tank + 350) + old tank
................................ = 2 * (old tank) + 350
3650 = 2 * (old tank) + 350
3650 - 350 = 2 * (old tank)
3300 / 2 = old tank
1650 = old tank
new tank = old tank + 350 = 1650 + 350 = 2000
