Associates degrees have absolutely no meaning.

If you don't believe me -- ask yourself these questions: What do they call someone who graduated from a community college? What do they call someone who left Harvard with a 4.0 average after two years?

The answer to the first question is "Someone with an associates degree" and the answer to the second one is "A college dropout."

No respectible PhD program will care if you have an AA or an AS. They will care about your BS in Psychology. They will also be more interested in the classes you took in your last two years than in the ones you took in your first two.

My advice to you is get into as good a four year college as possible and do it as soon as possible. If you have to start at a community college -- that isn't a problem. Just do well enough to get into a great school after that.

I have an Associate of science and a B.A. in Psychology
and the only difference between the Associate of Science and the Associate of art is the extra math class I took. (Statistics) This math class could also be replaced with an extra science class if you wanted, but I would advise you to take the extra math class at the community college level vs. the university level. It is usually much easier and it is usually better to get it out of the way.

Good Luck

when dealing with an associates degree not very much...the arts is offered for liberal arts studies...it's just a degree for a broad emphasis and the science is offered for taking more classes with an emphasis in sciences...as for you, you should probably brush up on your math because you will probably want to do the science degree...ask your school counselor what is right for you...he or she will point you in the right direction...your question is a legitimate one and there are no dumb questions...

As far as I know there is no difference it just depend on the school that you go to. I have a BA (bachelor of arts) in mathematics, just because I went to a liberal arts school for college.
