If you do not believe in things lasting forever...they never will for you. You have to work at things in order for them to be successful and happily forever. Things just do not go on forever without some effort.

By "forever" I will assume you mean "until death" as some people above me have pointed out that you must surely have meant.
Given that, you won't find a single person on this Earth who had any of those things last "forever" because every single one of them who did are dead. So, take me for example. I have had a good job for only 2 years now, but I have had a good marriage for the last 20 years and I have had my same best friend for the last 27 years. By definition, I have not had any of these "forever" because I am not dead yet. There are millions of people like me.
However, you can easily find other millions of people who have lost good jobs, lost friendships, and been divorced. This fact skews the brain's logic. You think, "There is no living person who can claim to have had a good thing forever, but there are millions of people who have lost a good thing. Therefore, having something good forever must be impossible."
Since the phrasing of your question excludes people like me, you are coming away with an unrealistically pessimistic view of the world. So, you see, it is possible to have a good thing forever -- it's just impossible to prove it!

You are correct, the Earth is going to be incinerated by the sun in a few billion years and awhile after that everything in the universe will either turn to cold inactive material or there will be another big bang (astronomers can't decide on that one yet).

There's a poem by Robert Frost on that subject, called "Nothing Gold Can Stay:"
Nature's first Green is Gold...
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower...
but only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf,
so Eden sank to grief...
so dawn goes down to day.
Nothing Gold can stay.

I think there's some truth to your statement. But hopefully real love and marriages can last forever...

I think a good marriage can last forever, at least until someone dies.

It is totally true why do I say this... Because I love my boyfriend very much thought he was crazy for me but last night I found emails to a girl harmless all except he called her sexy and told her the reason she was emailing him at his friends email was because I was crazy like that... and she ended hers in love and the her name. Made me realize that no matter who you are with they will always let you down in one way or another.
