I just got a computer form the school and I there isn't a place to plug in the phone thing. Is there another way to do it. It is a gateway 2000 if that helps. I am computer stupid so it would help if you answer me like you are talking to a 5 year old child.

It depends on your Internet service. You will need to either install an old 56K modem for dial-up (any computer store can help you with that) or install an ethernet card (again, the store can help) for cable or DSL service.

You need a modem that is where the phone line plugs in. Sorry thats all I know.

If there is no modem jack look for something that says Ethernet.
