Gilbert Perreault, Rick Martin and Rene Robert, all French Canadians, were labeled the "French Connection," after the 1971 movie of the same name. Perreault, the center, is a native of Victoriaville, Quebec: Martin, the left wing, from Verdun, Quebec and Robert, the right wing, from Trois Rivieres, Quebec. As a trio, The French Connection wore the blue and gold proudly as they were clearly the NHL's premiere line of their decade.

nobody will ever match the "French Connection" of the 70's, and like the other guy said they need to be on the same line.

I think the whole "French Connection" concept would work better if they played on the same line.

Considering that Pominville is a third-liner, and that Biron is a backup goalie, I hardly think it's the French influence that's driving the Sabres. I think it's more a combination of styles, and they've got an amazing international flavor to that team.
