I believe you could do this only if they are no longer in working order (and your lease includes appliances) or if they posed some type of danger.

(you could DEMAND it, but the landlord would not have to comply)

Depends on the laws in property management. If u purchase new appliences, then they are urs to own, but u will have to let the landlord know so he can get his oringal appliances in a storage so when u move he can replace them back in there. But u will have to sign an affidivat to these terms. If they are not working then it is the landlords responsiblity to fix them or replace them. That means if u have no heat to cook or the refreig. died!!
You can not demand an update just because u want better lookin appliences. That just doesn't happen.

In Colorado if they still work the landlord doesn't have to update them. If the break down the landlord doesn't have to replace them he can just fix them. As long as they work that is all the state cares about.

instead of "demanding" why not try ... asking. if you explain the situation and present some truly valid reason maybe they would consider it.

Not as long as they work properly. And then he can repair instead of replace.

You rented it like that.AS long as they work he dont half to replace them. BUT if they stop working you have a right to ask him to replace them. YOU DONT like it there MOVE.
