Yeah, it pretty much sums things up.

Get the book "His Needs, Her Needs" and it will explain the five main differences between what a man needs and what a woman needs plus much more.
If the five basic needs are not met, the person who is on the short end of the stick will find someone who will meet their needs, usually in an affair.
Being safe and secure is one of the basic needs of a woman. Finding his wife has been unfaithful is one of the most devastating things a man can go through but, and this takes work, it does not necessarily lead to a divorce. I would assume that women feel the same way but do not know from first-hand experience.

I think that those are two needs that men/women tend to have. I think perhaps different people will have different needs higher on the list (sex ife, spending time together interacting non-sexually). But a relationship can deteriorate if the needs of either person in a relationship are not met. Problem is - that a number of people, when they can get what they want from the relationship they are in, will try to find it with someone else.

Typically both people in a romantic relationship want to know their partner is faithful...cheating isn't the way to keep things together...
Many women do like the safe/secure feeling of being with a man, however there are also tons of independent women out there that never feel unsafe or insecure when they are not with a guy...
So...#1 is typically a must for any successful relationship...#2 depends on the woman...anyone who doesn't feel safe or who feels insecure in their relationship, will likely not be in it too long (whether they leave, or drive their partner to break it off with them)...

no two things work the same way, what may work for one couple may not work for the next. you have to be open and honest with each other or the relationship will deteriorate! not only does a man need to feel loved so does the woman as well.

Absolutely. But you leave a lot out. If either of those are missing, then sure, it is doomed. But you could flip them and still have a true statement. A woman also needs to know that her husband is faithful. If that is not a qualifying point then the marriage is also doomed.Any woman who doesn't need to be confident in her husbands faithfulness, needs to get her head checked.

Man needs to feel that he's loved and respected by the woman. Woman wants to feel loved and treasured. The faithful part is just a requirement on both parties.

Well, doesn't being faithful make you feel safe and secure? I think men and woman are really looking for the same thing, but go about it in totally different ways.

These are some of the things. From the evolutionary standpoint, men value sexual fidelity because this is the only way they can assure that the child they are rearing is theirs. And women need their men to stick around and put bread on the table for them and the kids. Makes sense?
