It just depends on where you live in the area and what zoning and/or subdivision regulations apply to your home. A call to your local planning and zoning office should get you a quick answer. Even better than calling is to visit in person. Keep in mind that you are a taxpayer, and these people work for you. Sometimes, they can be difficult to deal with.

Good luck with your hot tub project.

Boulder used to have a place called Timeout Tubbery where you could rent a tub by the hour. They had some on the roof that were great to rent in the winter when there was snow. Timeout hasn't been around for a long time. I think health issues and regulations probably made it impractical. I don't know of any others except what others have already mentioned. I don't know about you, but using a tub that the frats had rented wold be a little scary to me.

Each neighborhood is different - although if you are in an area that has an association, generally the front yard will be vetoed. There are also generally rules against any type of pool above ground.

The rules are in place to prevent people's property values from going down.

Why would you want it in the front anyhow? Would you not want some privacy? Generally noone wants to see you in your hot tub! Trust me!
