I would consider someone to be my best friend when they are there for you through the good and the bad times, when they know what your thinking and when you can sit in the same room when there is no conversation and feel totally comfortable with it.

If the friendship is unconditional. A best friend would do anything for you, and you for them, and there would be no conditions attached. Someone who is always there for you when you need them, and someone who likes you for who you are.

I think being there when they need you, letting them get on with their lives and not being too emotionally envolved in their relationship problems, being able to be honest with each other and have a good laugh!
