Anything you create is automatically copyrighted if you are in the US. To register your copyright with the Library of Congress, go to http://www.copyright.gov/forms/ and fill out the forms there. Registration has certain benefits, the main being that if you win the lawsuit in a copyright dispute the other party has to pay your legal fees. You must file the copyright if you take a case to court.
