It will be wake-up call for a lot of American's who are believe the lottery is a better bet than a retirement plan...

How much is enough? How much can you eat at one sitting? Or how much sq. ft house before one becomes "happy", or the size of the car/truck?

The generations that proceed one another should be of greater intelligence, learing from mistakes of the past. At this time in history, we seem to be going backwards, ethically, morally, and culturally.

To be honest I don't think that they are vain or self-center. Being a 21 yearold mother myself. We just want what good or in the best interest for our children. We want to make sure that our children are safe. Yes parents may talk alot about when they were growing up but it not for the reason that you ma think. They are trying to get you to from their mistakes.Parents just want their children to be better people then they were.

The biggest problem we have as a nation is that we have prospered for so long (no wars on our soil- except for the illegals thing going on right now). Ask any European WWII survivor and they will tell you that younger generations are nothing more than wasteful, greedy, and selfish people. I still can't believe, that as a nation, we have forgotten the energy crisis of the 70's. People are just so wasteful and ignorant- just imagine if everyone would just turn off unused lights- that would probably save 100's of thousands of barrels of oil a year.

What the hell are you talking about? Im thinking your talking about my generation when you say Mothers and Fathers and if we are vain and self-centered its because our own Mothers and Fathers came out of the depression and wanted more for us ... and as far as how much can you eat at one sitting? That all depends on if I've been smoking or not .. Ha Ha !! I think my generation is a good one, its the ones we raised that need a good belt whipping. I think the parents raising kids today are the ones who are self centered and im sorry to say I raised one of those kids ...

This makes me think of my parents who literally survived on their savings (very modest) and lived entirely on the government pension given to them. Approx. $600/month. From that they still managed to save.
They had their modest home paid for, so it was just living costs.

They survived 2 world wars and knew how to do with less. Most of us today probably can't say that.

Personally, I am preparing to accept living with less when I retire. We don't have to have every new gadget on the market nor the latest in technology nor go on grand vacations every year.

My retirement is only about 2 years away. It worries me to some degree but I also know I can live with less if required.
And that is what we all need to prepare for and not expect to live at the level they have been used to.
