Depending on the ranking of the coach, it can be from $50 to $250 in my area (CA). $250 is charged by world-famous professionals. Usual rate charged by competing professionals is around $70-$80-$90.

I'd never buy a package of lessons from a studio. These packages are hoax. If they are good at teaching, they don't need to sell me packages.

Some studios operate on membership principle, and it can work well. I know a studio that charges $120 per month membership that includes unlimited practice floor usage, free group lessons and discounted private lessons. They are awesome. Their system encourages students to stay and practice in the studio as long as they want which is really what makes a difference as far the progress goes. However, for those who want to take only one lesson per week this obviously doesn't work.

Depending on where you live and how well known the studio is, you can pay anywhere from $10-$20 per hour class. Usually if you purchase a multiple class punchcard or a month's worth of classes you can bring the price down by $2-$5 a class. Private lessons will usually run you $50-$75 an hour, depending on the quality and reputation of professional on staff.

I don't know for sure what the average is, but the national ballroom dance championship winners who used to live near us charged $50 per lesson as of about 4 years ago. I think it went for an hour.

That is a hard question to answer. I have taken ballroom dancing in the US and in Euorpe. The price is different were you are located in the states. I have taken it in the South for as little as $20 a lesson or as high as $40. In Euorpe is was even more. One lesson is not going to get you very far. Some of the same moves in ballroom danceing and the same in country round dancing and you will learn them faster in round dancing. The big differents is the poster required for ballroom dancing is more formal. Try country danceing is is lower cost and more fun.

Difficult to answer. Depends on the city and level of expertise. Call around in the Yellow Pages or check out the Newspaper for advertisements.
