castor oil is very dangerous and stupid, research now shows that it can pass the placenta and enter the baby causing baby to have a bowel movement in the womb which can be dangerous to deadly for baby and even dr's will tell you not to do that anymore. my cousin refused to listen and it happened to her baby whom almost died due to her impatience

Waiting is the Best thing you can do... unless the Doctor/midwife says differently... And using Castor Oil is just another one of those old wives tales... And it isn't good for you... I've never heard of any doctor or midwife suggesting Castor Oil as a method of bringing on labor... I'm pregnant with my 3rd child right now And I 'll wait until He is ready to come... My 2nd child didn't come until I was 43 weeks along... I did nothing to make him come out.. He came out on his own.. The doctors checked the fluid in the placenta to make sure that he'd be ok and there was plenty of fluid... So they let me go until he was ready... I am more than willing to do the same for this one...

I agree. Of course I am not to 41 weeks and dying to get the baby out. But Caster oil is dangerous to take because it can travel to the fetus and cause maconium stain...(baby bowl movement). There really is no way to have labor early if your body is not ready for it. That is the tough fact of life.

My midwife begged me not to use castor oil. She said we could do any other old wives tale thing we wanted, but not that, because it causes a lot of bowel discomfort, sometimes with, er, explosive results.
That said, I don't think castor oil falls into the "rushing" category of intervention, like scheduled c-section for a healthy mom and baby. It's more like eggplant parm or walking a lot or raspberry leaf tea or having sex.
I tried and tried to get my baby to come after 37 weeks, because I was so huge and uncomfortable and miserable, and I knew that he was "fully baked." But he was also stubborn and hung around until a full week after his due date.

i'm no longer being impolite the two by asserting this! perchance the yankee media is leaping on the band wagon yet from what I even have seen and not heard, the commonplace American could desire to care a miles less approximately it. it quite is in simple terms the reality! It would not influence us people one bit socially or economically in any way. like another couple getting married I desire them the main suitable, yet we produce different greater substantial themes to think of approximately perfect now like unemployment, elevating and feeding our families, preserving a roof over our heads etc. finding a sparkling president that may not make their rich buddies richer by starving and removing jobs from their components. those are themes we people are all in favour of perfect now, no longer who in simple terms have been given married.

my ob advised me not to do this, and i hadn't even thought about doing this. wait until the baby is ready, i have never understood why women do this. if the baby is overdue and you want to bring on labor there are better ways to do this. lots of walking worked for me. you could also try having sex, nipple stimulation, spicy foods.

It 's because women have been told that they have the "right to control" all aspects of their bodies. We are a "want it my way and want it now society" Who cares if it's best for baby? It's what's best for ME that matters in the selfish society we live in today.
