I suggest you read in the Bible, I Corinthians 13, "The Love Chapter" because it tells you what love really is and isn't. If love dies, it wasn't love in the first place since true love will last forever. Love also never fails regardless of the circumstances or the situation around it. Love never seeks its own way at the expense of another. Love endures all things, hope all things and is patient as well as kind. If what you are experiencing isn't following these and the other things in the chapter, it isn't love.

Love is a choice. You either choose to love someone or not.
Ask any couple who have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and they will tell you it is work. Every relationship will go through hard times and it is how you handle those hard time that will determine if you will celebrate a 60th wedding anniversary.
I know it is hard but it takes committment from both people to make it work. Communication and ability to really listen and consider the other persons point of view is essential to making it through the hard times. This can alone be a huge challenge especially if one person doesn't know how to express how they feel or what it is that is bothering them. Seek counseling if you have to. This can help in learning new ways to communicate.

True love is when it hurts to think about life without the other person, when regardless of what anybody says, you still love them no matter what. Love is when you can look deep into the eyes of your partner and say a hundred words w/o a trace of sound. Love is something that cannot be understood unless you've experienced it. In my opinion, no typed explination of love can ever give it justice.

I wish I had a clue! I thought that shdwtalke's answer from the Bible was a good one though. Wish I could actually meet a guy that believed that was what love was all about! Good luck finding out and let me know if ya do figure it all out.

Love is hanging on when you want to let go. Love is spending when you want to not spend. Love is losing sleep when you want to sleep. Love is working when you do not want to work. Love is holding your tongue when you want to scream. And love is doing it all without anger or resentment. That is love. We never reach it perfectly but the closer we get the nicer the feeling.

Love is patient and is kind; love doesn't envy. Love doesn't brag, is not proud, doesn't behave itself inappropriately, doesn't seek its own way, is not provoked, takes no account of evil; doesn't rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

love is giving and taking...
love is sacrificing... going through thick and thin is never easy...
love is willingness to stay by one's side when when the odds are overwhelming...
love is togetherness... love is about keep trying.... many many times....
love is settling for less... just to be together.... $10,000 would be good but $1,000 can do?

Love is caring for another above yourself. And it sure takes a ton of commitment!!!! But it can be done with communication, dreaming together, and, oh yeah, lots of sex!!! LOL
