I know that they discontinued the stamp program at Subway about a year, but why?

I'm guessing that it's because fraud was rampant in that program. As a former Subway employee back in the mid-90s, I know the theft that went on with the stamps. Things like friends of employees getting hooked up with many stamps for free sandwiches, customers reaching over the counter to work the stamp machine to help themselves to free stamps (yes, I caught people doing this!), etc..

And then when I left, the program was modified so that you needed about a third less stamps for a free sandwich but you had to now buy a drink. Boy, people were griping when that was introduced, but I personally didn't mind buying a drink seeing as I no longer had to buy 2-4 extra sandwiches like in the past. Some people can't see the forest for the trees, I suppose, but I digress...

Anyway, anyone know why the program disappeared? Are you sad to see it go? Personally, I go for the food, not the free stuff!

I was told by a subway manager that this program was discontinued because the stamps and filled cards were being counterfieted and sold on ebay for much more than they were worth.

I was wondering the same thing.

When i left Washington State they said the stamps were going to go away with. They gave me a card that I would use instead of stamps. When I got a sandwich they would add that to the card, (kind of like a gift card)

When I got here in GA they dont do either. I was bummed. I still have some stamps. lol

Yes, E-bay took their pride, and Pokemon are fun. But really if they were to do anything with this for Mcdonalds, wow, we would have 500 pounders roaming in the the for MACS.

People were counterfitting the stamps. Now they spend their advertising dollars on contests.
