How about job training? Maybe a time limit, no lifetime leeches. I like the idea of social programs being in place just in case someone is down on their luck. Though it has to be better regulated, how about making it a state issue and not a federal issue?

all able bodied people on welfare should be made to work....remember those jobs Americans won't do? What really
p i sses me off is all the young able-bodied women that don't have to make an effort because they have small children.....what about middle-class women that have to put their children in daycare..obviously our government thinks they are not as deserving as someone that doesn't even try..... oh to be president for a month!
In my rant, I forgot, I truly believe that a person that has more than one child on welfare should be sterilized or be denied all welfare after 1 year....

It already is a state issue: Block grant reform, 1996-7. The fed now enforces the State's cooperation through bribes of additional money...

1. No more AFDC checks. Childcare, Medicaid, and Food Stamps, only.

2. No more punishing poor women for being married. Open the above for all women under a certain income.

3. Stop when the youngest child is 5.

4. Limit public assistance to 2 children. Fathers undergo manditory snip snip after 2 children born to any women.

5. Pay for tubal ligation, vasectomies, and birth control.

They do have job training.....they (on welfare don't go on job interviews) people on the in side ( who work at the welfare office) tell some people how to work the system then it's passed on........One way to reform only pay for ONE CHILD and for a shorter amount of time cut off TANF and less food stamps the more kids you have the more money (TANF) and the more food stamps you get.....those who argue with that usually are the ones getting it........and as for as people who are not legal citizens here on a work card should not get anything...... people are having 4 and 5 kids and keep on the taxpayers are paying for them and whats worse kids are having kids thats why the state should only pay for one

Every state and local government should have jobs open for people on welfare. People on welfare should spend their days either working at a public job, attended classes at a local community college or job program, or out on interviews. There should never be anyone sitting around the house on welfare.

Welfare recipients should also be reviewed more often. It's incredibly easy to get onto welfare. It's hard to get someone off it once it has begun.

We need programs to eliminate fraud.

How about this for welfare reform? Eliminate it period and that includes international welfare as well.

There are only two types of welfare recipients, those who cannot get jobs, and those who chose not to work.

More often than not those who cannot get a job fall into one or more of three distinct categories:
1. They were too busy screwing around in school to pay attention and learn anything and are thus unemployable. Why should we pay to give job training to people that already proved they won't pay attention in a school, we already paid for their education once.
2. They were too stupid to use birth control, got knocked up and now have to stay home to take care of the kid(s). Why should we pay for this person's and the father(s) irresponsibile behavior.
3. They can't pass a drug screen. If they can afford to get high they can afford to feed and house themselves, they just choose not to.

It is not the government or taxpayers job to pay to feed and house people that will not or cannot get a job. Welfare requires excess taxation that takes money and thus food away from families that can barely get by just to give it to someone that does not work for a living. This is just wrong.

Yes this is the land of freedom and opportunity, have some respect for it and take responsibility for your own actions and inactions. If that means you starved to death because you were too busy to take the public education that you are given or too lazy to get a job, tough, that is not my or my governments problem or responsibility.

If you want to help these people, that is up to you and you can donate to a charity of your choice. I should not be required to make a mandatory donation with my tax dollars to those who will not help themselves.

If you want some charity go talk to one of these tax-exempt supposedly not for profit Churches with these multi-million dollar mansions for their preachers. These places are obviously taking in more money than what they are donating to these starving people.

It may sound cruel, but it is time for us to say enough is enough. The leeches are destroying this great nation.

Well it needs to not be so easy to get for one.
There should be a strict time limit on the welfare and it should be given on the condition that one finds a job to support themselves. Also some kind of job training could also be needed to get the welfare. There is no point in getting people jobs that pay minimum wage where they cant support themselves.

IN PA MANY OF THE PEOPLE WHO RECEIVE STATE AID HAVE TO WORK OR BE IN SCHOOL OR PROVEN DESTITUTE! THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO FOLLOW SUITE! MOST ARE GETTING SCHOOLING AND LOW INTEREST LOANS TO BETTER THEMSELVES! TO ME THIS IS OK AND NEEDS SOME MORE WORK! LIKE THE DEAD BEAT DADS WHO HIDE WITH WELFARE WOMEN KEEPING THEM DOWN! THEY ALL SHOULD PAY FOR THEIR KIDS! THIS ALONE WILL LESSEN THE LOAD ON WELFARE BUT WOMEN SHOULD HAVE TO REPORT IT AS INCOME!

When Mayor Giuliani took over in NYC he renamed the Welfare office to Job Centers and put people to work...

If you wanted your check you had to work...The city found SOMETHING for you to do. Clean subway cars and stations to sweeping the sidewalks, to clerical work...

It was a huge success.

A dem will give you a fish a day to eat...

The republican will teach you to fish.

How about taking completely out.

It is a drain on our society and breeds lazyness.

Welfare is a bane, simple as that.
