Each one believes himself to be better or stronger than the other people. They think they are smarter. So they take a chance.
Each one knows of others & their problems, but they don't think it will happen to them.

You really should stop listening to the people on here and smoke some yourself. That way you can see first hand just how it makes you feel. After this you will be able to decide if it's something that could be harmful to you or not. I really believe you are a strong person you won't get caught up.

people have addictive personalities and many are predisposed to this at birth.
many reasons for different people, one thing i know for sure is that people don't wake up and say my career goal is to do crack for the rest of my life or live on the streets. it is a sad thing that happens to people that are addicted. many have emotional problems, others are victims of abuse, some not, the thing about addiction is that it is not prejudice. some don't have control and therefore are stuck in that life for good, some make it out and some die. thats the reality of any drug. a drug is a drug is a drug, it comes in many forms, liquid, pill, powder, solid, food, clothes, whatever the person needs to escape that moment in which they find unbearable to cope. that is an addict: when you need something other than yourself to cope with life or its stresses. again its just my opinion.......kath....i have alot of empathy for those that are caught in a world that they never meant to be in......

They are usually depressed and want to be in an alternate reality,even if it's only for 4 or 5 minutes.

Stupidity first. Most often when they are young. They have the attitude that they're indestructible. They can't see or don't want to see the consequences. Very sad.

Good answers so far. Peer pressure, depression, curiosity, escape. I would agree that taking the drug itself is a 'stupid' act.
