if you can tell me the state I can tell you who lives there...
Found the state...But the house numbers have changed since the movie...they go from 108 Ocean then jumps to 120 Ocean...it could be one of those I guess...

I live on long island, not too far from Amityville, and I'll tell you what happened when I went there not too long ago. There's a plaque in the front yard that identifies the house(I didn't know I'd be passing it). I saw an old white lady in the drive way washing her car, and I went up to her and asked her if since she moved in, did she see or hear anything. She looked kinda uptight when I asked her, probably because she had answered the same question for a MILLION other people...but she said "No, since I moved in here, I have never seen or heard anything strange in this house. The strangest thing about this house is it's history."
So there you have it.

"On June 10, 1997, Brian Wilson purchased the house for approximately $310,000. Since 1997, Wilson has renovated the property. Among the many improvements, he has strengthened the foundation of the sinking boathouse and added a sunroom to the back of the house.
Since the renovation was anything but cheap, it is quite preposterous to think that a malevolent force resides there. The only thing the current house owners want is for the hoax to end and for the tourists to leave them alone, so they may enjoy their property in peace. With MGM's remake of The Amityville Horror set to be released in 2005, it is likely that hordes of tourists will flock to the small seaside village once more."
Personally I wouldn't really want to live there

Dont know who owns it but its for sale for $850,000. Yes I would love to live there. Its a very nice looking home now. The actual murders in the home would be the only thing that I would have to adjust to. Defeo is still living so that would also remain in my mind. Although he is 64 years old now, I cant help but wonder what he would do if by some slim chance he got out of prison? Obviously, since it was his home, Im sure he still has some kind of attachment to the home in his mind? If for nothing else, just the fame of the house.
Its a very nice looking place though. The increase in home value is kinda wild. The Defeos paid 80,000 for it back in the 70s and now its selling for $850,000? The median price for homes in that area is in the $700,000 range. Thats what you call Appreciation! Just the property taxes on it are over $20,000/yr.

Technically, no one. The address was changed years ago to keep people from bothering the residents. The owners also took out the creepy 'eye' windows.
