No, it has nothing to do with the plants themselves, but the ways it is grown when it is done professionally. Like, marijuana grows better in certain conditions (humidity, warmth, light), and if you're growing a pot farm in your house, you probably give off more heat. They also sometimes look at electric bills to look for mysteriously high electriciy usage that can't be explained.

On the other hand, in some places infrared scanning of a house may not be legal without a warrant. Then again, nowadays the government can spy on you without a warrant anyway.

The plants aren't putting out the heat, the grow lights are. Infrared cameras just pick up heat, and enough grow lights looks bright white on the screen.
