They tell you not to eat eggs, unless they are fried hard as a rubber tire.

They tell you not to eat all the best cheese, the good creamy fresh unpasteurized kind.

They tell you eating a deli sandwich is bad. There are even bugs in deli meat it seems.

They tell you you can't have soufflees and meriunges...back to the egg thing.

Seems all pregnant people can do is eat boxed crap and drink the camels share of H2O they want us to consume each day. I ate all of the above stuff with my last two, and they are just fine and so am I. Do they come out with new pregnancy food blacklists every year or something?

What are you eating?

I had two over medium fried eggs today, cold chicken leftover from last night, rice, kefir, and Korean hot pepper paste all over my rice and egg.

I am such a bad, bad terrible person!! (lol)

Its ridiculous, it seems like everyday they come up with something new that 'you shouldn't do' while being pregnant. My mother ate deli meat, eggs, seafood and her doctor told her that she could smoke up to 10 cigarettes a day while she was pregnant with my brother and I, we both turned out just fine. My doctor told me everything in moderation is fine except smoking and alcohol. Just use your best judgement, don't eat meats or eggs that have been sitting around too long or smell bad. Check expiration dates. And don't go crazy with eating too much of anything, eat varieties of healthy foods. You'll see that your baby will be just fine!

I don't believe what the people below have written to be advice that anyone should follow "my mother smoke and drank alcohol and I'm ok" we are told not eat certain foods for good reasons..... I think not having a runny yolk on your fried egg for a while is a small sacrifice for a healthy baby! It's nine months out of your life when you need to make a few changes, I disgusts me that mothers do want to do all they can to protect their unborn babies, so just stay away from runny eggs, fish with high mercury content, pate and any unpasurised dairy. If the doctors told me that eating toe nail would benefit my baby then I would chew away.....

if you pay attention to what you cant eat you would understand why you cant eat it and I'm sure they explained and if they didn't you should have asked! some of what your saying I've never heard like about the eggs for example...but anyway they tell you not to eat things that either put high levels of substances in your body that can cause retardation in the unborn fetus or they tell you not to eat things that could make you ill to the point your fetus could be effected as well it all makes perfect sense if you have sense enough to get the facts...the reason they tell you all of this now and not before is because with time they obviously learn more about the effects certain things can have on the mother or more so the fetus

I work in a seafood store and get asked this question from time to time. Curtis is correct, larger fish have higher levels of mercury. Large predatory fish, shark, swordfish, marlin, tuna and king mackerel have high levels. Tilefish also has high levels. Farmed fish and smaller white fish like cod, haddock or snapper are a good choice. Thing is, if you only have 6 to 8 oz. of fish once or twice a week, you've got nothing to worry about. Pregnant and nursing women and children under 16 need to be most aware of mercury intake.

They say that stuff to be cautious. Listeria is a bacteria that is harmless to most people, but can be fatal to fetuses. It can grow in unpasterized chesses (your soft cheeses, like feta, or bleu), and not thoroughly cooked meats (like deli meats or eggs.) You're suppose to limit your caffeine, fatty or greasy foods, and sodium.

I eat most of what I used to eat before I was pregnant. It's hard to stay away from the fries. The best thing I like is a fruit smoothie. Filling, delicious, and lots of fiber.

i ate everything too! and my three are fine. i just took it easy on the stuff they say not to eat-like feta cheese, I love that stuff! I think as long as you're eating it in moderation you'll be fine. Also I would fry my deli meat in a pan for a few minutes, my dr said that made it better to eat.

You can eat fruits, vegetables you can have cheese just not from the deli, or hot spices. You can eat boiled eggs or scrambled egss. Deli meat is contaminated and the changes of ecoli are high, this is just to protect your child and you.

Hun, women have been having babies forever now, and no one took such drastic measures before, and look! we're still here!! I say forget the bullshizz that the doctors and the books say, and eat what you like - in moderation. Stay clear of the things that are truly bad like alcohol, drugs, nicotine, and hot sauce (unless you like heartburn.)

you never know, what they are going to come up with. Last week we had a recall on all of our beef. The week before that it was spinach.. One year they said red meat was bad for us . now they are saying do not eat chicken.. I say eat whatever you crave. That is probably what your body is needing anyway... Have a great ,safe and healthy pregnancy.

haha, you arent supposed to eat boxed food! I was told it has to be fresh, so I just have whatever I want within reason (usually meat and veg) I do eat ham and eggs and fish though, so I have broken 3 cardinal sins there, but hey, my mum ate all that, smoked, and drank and I turned out ok!
