As an adult have you ever cried because of physical pain?
I had never cried because of physical pain and I thought I would have never till sometime ago (at 38) after stubbing my toes against a hidden stone: the pain was sudden, unexpected and excruciating! I hate to show my weakness in front of other people, especially if younger then me, so I tried very hard to fight back the tears. For some moments I succeeded, really fighting very hard, but after a while the pain became more then excruciating and I couldn't help bursting into tears. Result: three toes and some small bones broken... but I felt ashamed to look such a crybaby!

Let me know if you had similar experiences and what do you think of my reaction, please.

Absolutely. I had the worst abdominal pain the other day, I thought my intestines were exploding. I was crying in front of my son. Thankfully he isn't old enough to know when mommy is in pain and he just kept walking around, laughing and playing, oblivious. That was good... I don't want him to worry.

I also cried while I was in the hospital last year... of course it was because the doctors though I had a brain tumor and my kidneys were failing and my blood pressure was so high they thought I'd die of seizures. I also thought my child was going to die because I was still pregnant. Yeah, I cried, and I don't think it was unjustified.

Had a staph infection on my elbow last year. The Doc opened it..took out as much as He could, but left it open to go back in 2 days later (so I have an open wound on my elbow). Therapists came in to clean out the wound (Open, raw, down to the bone), And they used a water-pik! I didn't just cry - I screamed, kicked and threatened the medical team with death! If it hurts..it hurts and don't let no one call You a "Baby" because of it. If they do - tell em You'll kick they're *** when You get off the table.

Hey, you did more than stub your toes, you broke bones! No need to be ashamed of crying.
I'll bet some pro athletes who hurt themselves really badly on the field feel like crying from the pain, but put a huge amount of pressure on themselves to suck it up and not cry.

I've never cried from physical pain, only emotional pain. I'm not trying to be sexist, but in my experience I have noticed that men rarely cry because of physical pain while women do.
