anyone want to prove to me how higher taxes are more beneficial to the economy and to people than lower? did you liberals know that if you raise taxes too high then it worsens the business environment? did you know that every country runs on business? without businesses, the tax money would come from NOWHERE, so you cant say its bad to support business. if you lower taxes, it makes the business environment (1)more favorable, (2)more people and businesses will invest (3)when people dont have to pay high taxes, they have more money to spend, (4)when people spend its good for business, (5)if business is good then the government gets more revenue, (6)if taxes are high then business doesnt work so well, people dont spend so much, the government gets less money even though taxes are higher, because more revenue is collected through SALES than through income tax. even Hillary knows this, but shes a self-proclaimed socialist. dont bring the deficit up, its because of the war, obviously.

the other thing is that the government gets even more money in the *long run* through corporate tax breaks, since businesses have more money to invest and grow.

This one's for "not me."

1. Jobs-- Raising taxes on the wealthy result in loss of jobs.
2. Standard of living--Squeezing taxes on the wealthy result in costs of everything going up. Lowers the standard of living for all but the wealthy, who axe jobs and outsource to keep theirs...
3. Wages--Manditory wage increase results in stagnation of voluntary raises from employers. Manditory wage increase results in lowering incentives for workers to perform well in order to receive a raise.

Why did out-sourcing occur, anyway? Perhaps Americans got too cushy with the "entitlement" mentality. People perform best a little hungry...

While much of what you say is true, as long as the government is NOT running deficit spending! Deficit spending hurts everyone, business the most as it increases the cost of doing business more than what the added taxes would! The present deficit has nothing to do with the war, it has to do with an unwarrented tax cut mainly aimed at those who would feel the effects of the tax the least!
The simple fact is that those who have the largest amounts of money use far more of the governments services than poorer people do. The military is used the world over to protect "American assets". These assets are not property belonging to the government or the people in general, but to the wealthy few. Why should working people have to pay to care for wealthy peoples assets??
If you cut federal taxes so big business makes more, but eliminate spending in states that has to be made up by local taxes on small business, who really gained?
If your tax cuts allow big bussiness not to pay any tax on goods made overseas, arent you in fact encouraging them to move? And how does that effect your tax theory?

You are right on the money. Taxes are a drag on the economy and are often used to "punish" success. Lower tax rates have always resulted on more taxes paid. When rates are reasonable, people are more likely to pay them rather than work hard to evade them through loopholes.

Raising taxes to fund wasteful spending does appeal to many, but history has proven the fallacy of doing that.

Don't really care about world wide taxes. I do know when taxes were higher under Bill Clinton, the debt was being paid down and government spending was as high as a percentage as it was under Reagan and G H. Bush. When taxes were reduced and spending shot up under G. W. Bush the debt exploded. The economy imploding followed afterwords.

It's not how high or low they are, it is what you get in return. The taxes are comparatively high here in Finland, yet the governemt, which as you said, runs on bussiness, makes sure these funds go into what is beneficial for both the population and the bussinesses.

Today, Finland is ranked as a better place to invest than the US, which has suffered under poor market policy.

High taxes do not deterr companies if they get a reasonable return for those taxes, such as infrastructure, highly educated workers and access to natural resources.

You lost me with that last part of #6. What about sales tax?

And if we don't have adequate taxation, where does the government get it's money?

I can't! & I'm am sick of people who want to take more and more of my hard earned money to support people who could choose to work as hard as I do, but choose not too. I understand that some people have hard times, but that is the great thing about living in a free country....they are free to change their situation.
This frustrates me more then I could tell!

Does it make sense to tax a mercenary plutocratic predatory few so as to redistribute wealth acquired through extortion or do you believe in tax havens for extortionists?

I believe that a mercenary plutocratic predatory few prey upon the many of our global culture and it is the responsibility of we the people to impose order of state law and government upon the chaos of a global shakedown some call the war on terror and prevent the many from being subject to extortion by a mercenary plutocratic predatory few and thereby preyed upon.
