The 'Iraq is not as violent a place as it appears' news conference from Baghdad was sickening.
3000 people a month are being killed in Iraq. This makes the 600,000 assessment understated.
If the military keep this up they will lose my and many other peoples respect and support.

Mathematical Extrapulation won't work on this one.. What about all the people killed during the war, what about all the disappeared.. what about the bodies that are not counted because they are not found. 600,000 is an underestimation.

This is standard procedure for Bushco.
"Black is not actually black it's white."
The difference is nobody buys it any more.

I don't think that it aids the Republican Party. People are already set in stone on this issue. I believe the military. I have no choice, because the press is so obviously partisan (fox/reps cnn/dems).
PS: 3000/month at 36 months approximately is 108,000 not more then 600,000. All deaths are horrible, but that 600,000 is way wrong.

Math issues aside, shouldn't your question be reversed--should the republican Party be holding conferences to aid the military?????--- hold conferences, allow actual news footage from Iraq to be seen on tv including even fox--news footage that does not compromise the troops locations/plans but shows what is actually happening. Yes, the repubs and democrats should be talking about and watching closely everything that our troops are suffering thru. And speaking of politcal parties helping, maybe even republico-haliburton could "change" the course and provide whatever our troops need--not slogans or photo opp's.

Do you even know your math? Even if 3000 people a month is being killed, for EVERY MONTH since the war started, it equals about ONE FOURTH or .25 of the 600,000. I mean to the rest of your question, I don't even know how to answer such an ignorant question

The insurgents are the ones killing the innocent civilians, so what is your beef? The military has a war to fight and holding a meeting will only impede the progress. The military will never lose my respect, but you have.
