I tried BitDefender because something ate my Norton but I have had better luck with AVG. I won't ever recommed Norton because after I installed it (2006)I got hit by a Trojan and can't get rid of it or un-install Norton

I hate Norton Antivirus and most Norton products ( Norton Spyware Scan is alright). They make your pc slow and they are harder to remove. Bit defender is better
But, as for me, I use
1) AVG Free - http://www.grisoft.com for antivirus
2) ZoneAlarm Pro http://www.zonelabs.com for firewall, antispyware, spysite blocking an email protection for outlook express users
3) Spybot - S&D http://www.safer-networking.org for antispyware/antiadware

Everything mentioned here except ZoneAlarm Pro is free. Zonealarm has a free version as well, if u are interested
4) AdAware SE http://www.lavasoft.com for antispyware/antiadware
Ewido is also good (Though, I don't use it except occasionally their online scan)

Now, I never had any virus/spyware/adware attack with this security arsenal

There are pros and cons of course. Personally I recommend you to use BitDefender if you have a low-end system.
