Grey - Unburned Fuel
White - water
Blue - Oil
If you are getting unburned fuel you have a problem with the Carburetor or fuel system because its running lean or more likely rich. If you have white smoke then watch your coolant level closely, also remember the ONLY way to get coolant into the cylinder is through the head gasket or intake gasket. If either is bad it should be replaced. If you are burning oil it could be leaking down the valves or you may be getting it from the piston which means you need new piston rings.

White smoke is somewhat "steam" from water and/or antifreeze stepping right into a cylinder. Your engine is burning it as if it were gas. defective head gaskets (or a cracked block) can enable water or coolant (antifreeze) to enter the cylinders. verify the stages of fluid in the radiator and coolant overflow reservoir. also, pull your oil dipstick. If the residue on the dipstick looks milk-chocolatey, then coolant has certainly contaminated your engine oil. subsequently, do no longer initiate and run the motorcar because it would want to reason severe inner damage to the motor. You pronounced the former proprietor suggested "he might want to have positioned too a lot oil in". that would want to correctly be an illustration that he KNEW the antifreeze/coolant replaced into getting into the cylinders and contaminating the oil, so he replaced the oil to attempt to cover this truth from a conceivable shopper. The black liquid coming from the tail pipe is a "rinse" of exhaust residue from the condensed steam.

Most likely its a head gasket leaking or blown depending on how much smoke there is.
