I'm just now getting one (living in the stone age, I guess) and don't really know which would be the best for my money. Looking for good sound quality, looooooots of space, really good durability (I'm pretty clumsy...), and something that works well with a PC. Thanks for the help!! :D

It sounds like the flash players are out since you want alot of space so that knocks some of the contenders out.

I have an 30 GB Ipod and it works great. But if you are worried about the best bang for your buck, try and find a place that might let you listen to a song or two on the display model. But truthfully, if you select the new ipod, the creative zen v, of the Toshiba gigabeat you aren't going to be disappointed.

Mostly it comes down to if you are all about the more drmish ipod or if you want access to the pay for music monthly sites like rhapsody, Napster, and yahoo. If so, get one that works for those.

It really depends on what you are looking for...

When it comes to larger "hard disk" based units;

iPods are NOT the best, however they do have the most available accessories.

Creative Zen (current model the Creative Zen Vision:M) has always been the best alternative to the iPod, but this year the Toshiba Gigabeat S has received the most praise both from within the industry (like CNET.com) and from consumers.

However when it comes to audio quality the Cowon iAudio X5L has the best sound hands down.

If you looking for a smaller player, like 1-4 GB, the Sandisk Sansa is a really cheap and easy to use flash player.

I honestly have a 30gig zen xtra, and it extremely is AWSOME!!! Mine would not do the video clips in spite of the undeniable fact that, despite the fact that if it extremely is super. i exploit mine interior the automobile, at domicile, as a walkman or maybe for dj'ing, considering I honestly have my entire library with me! The utility that the imaginative's use is easy and is basic to make playlists, and to sync it to your laptop's track library. you additionally can do drag/drop in case you like, that's the least puzzling thank you to do it! i've got faith a crammed-up 30 gig will play for roughly approximately 4 or 5 WEEKS at present, without repeating a music!!! An ipod for a similar cost is going to be a pair of 5 gig or so (depending on what you get) and is merely no longer well worth the cost. As you pronounced, you're procuring the namebrand. I by no skill liked mac or apple. i've got faith in addition they use a various format of track too, which makes it that extremely tougher to apply. i wish this facilitates ya, and leans ya in the direction of the Zen. they're niiice gamers! stable success on your seek!!! ;o)

Creative Labs are the best to me because they play .mp3, .wma and .wav files. I have an 8GB Zen Micro and I love it.
