I have been a Mary Kay consultant for over a year and am inthe process of quitting my job to do it full time. That being said, I do know people that didn't like being a consultant but they are some of my best customers (and none of them are 80 year old clown faces, most of them are women in their 20's and 30's). Make sure your recruiter is honest with you and doesn't push you to order a lot of inventory up front and is willing to work with you at a level you are comfortable with. If you have any questions, you can email me at nkettler1@marykay.com

I am a new Mary Kay consultant and it has done great things for me not to mention I get all my make-up half price. The only thing is make sure you are on a good team, find a director that is going to push you to make money that always helps and good luck. Go for it!!!!!!!!!

I had a women come up to me that sold mary kay about 3 years ago when I worked at a drug store...she told me how pretty I was and I would be really good at selling Mary Kay....Yeah maybe that's true, but she was just trying to get me on so she could win a Pink Cad. My sister sold it and I have friends who sell it and my sister said it's a waste of time. My friends told me that You have to have $100 up front to get your products, you have to make a certain quota to get a percentage of it and Mary Kay is hard to sell to everyone. It's really for people that can afford it. Have you tried Avon. I sold it for a while and for the first three months I made 50% on anything I sold. Plus anybody can afford Avon. They have great products, you don't have to worry about parties, unless you want to, and you sell it when you want to. It's your business. Say you can't sell something one month, all you have to do is buy a tube of chapstick and they will continue to send you catalogs. you do have to buy your books, bags, etc... but it is DIRT CHEAP and you get it back when you sell something. I would look into that. It is less of a headache.

i worked for mary kay while in college. honestly i think its comes down to who you are. some of the other consultants in my circle were able to leave their jobs and make it a way of life. i didnt care for it much at all. i quit after a couple of months. i would say that if u are considering it...make sure you are 100% sure before you make that investment. a lot of money and time goes into this decision. good luck with everything!!

I've heard thier makeup has improved but when I tried it a few years ago it was heavy and made me feel like an eighty year old clown.

I hate pushy sales people too that tell you the clown face is for you.

They want you to keep a good inventory so be prepared to spend money placing orders. Other than that, I have only good things to say about it. It's a lot of fun, and it's a great way to make money.
