To be able to get out of that country to avoid facing their court systems for whatever he had done there. He was on a news show, and when asked why he confessed to killing her....he said " I NEVER said I killed her" and thats true...he never said that..he only said that he was with her when she died....He could have easily meant spirtiually or that he knows who did it. But,,,he never confessed to her murder.

I'd say he had fantasies about her and the line between fantasy and reality became a little blurry. What I don't understand is how authorities claimed he had knowledge of the case that no one in the general public would have. Then they seemed to have no case at all. It would seem logical that pedophiles network. Perhaps he knows the killer's identity. Perhaps, as he says, he was with her when she died. One thing's for sure, he has a hard time getting arrested. It seems to me that the charges he had against him in California were dropped as well. Very strange.

I think there is some underlying psychological problem. I also think that he is searching for attention and wants to be heard. Many people act out in different ways if they know it will give them attention that they could've missed out on earlier in life or at some other time.

This is a misconception. He never confessed to killing her. What he said was, that he was there when she died. And even this statement was shown to be untrue under questioning, which is why the case was dropped.
All the evidence, especially the "care" shown to her after she died (wrapping her carefully in her favorite blanket, among other things), to me, points to the mother. Criminal psychologists will tell you that such "loving" behavior after a murder is common when the killer is a close family member.

I think he was trying to get out of Thailand. He was already getting himslef into trouble over there and coming to court in the US was his only way of getting out. He was probably facing a beating or something and preffered to come to the US even if it meant a bit of time in a US prison and a whole bunch of publicity.

for the media attention, i guess. i would love to find out his real reasons. maybe he had some reason for wanting to put the whole case to rest, even if it was the wrong guy; maybe he wanted to get caught--many offenders come to a point where the WANT someone to catch them and stop them from doing what they do. it might have seemed like a good way to do that.

I think he likes to be famous for something. One of those attention seekers who are a few bricks short of a load. He seems to really believe that he is, but has that wierd blank stare all the time. I think he just wants attention.

I agree with the professionals that I have heard say that he was so obsessed with the little girl that confessing to her death (which inevitably has been proved false) was his way of forever "tying" himself to her.
He will always be associated with her now publicly and that is what, I think, the sicko wanted.

I was under the impression that he was in trouble in the country he was originally in for child abuse or pornagraphy. He probably did it for the fame or to escape with his head. I don't remember what the country was.
