Is it common to get itchy bumps on your abdomen?
Up to 1 percent of pregnant women develop a condition characterized by itchy, red bumps and larger patches of a hive-like rash on their bellies. This is called pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP) or polymorphic eruption of pregnancy.

PUPPP usually begins in the third trimester and is more common among women carrying twins and those having their first baby. The eruptions usually show up first on the abdomen around or in stretch marks (if you have any) and may spread to your thighs, buttocks, and arms. PUPPP is harmless for you and your baby, but it can itch like crazy!

Your doctor or midwife will want to see you for a diagnosis and will probably prescribe a topical ointment to give you some relief. She may also recommend an antihistamine. In severe cases, you may need a course of oral steroids.

PUPPP usually disappears within a few days after delivery, although it sometimes persists for several weeks. (In rare cases, it may even begin after you give birth.) Fortunately, it seldom appears again in subsequent pregnancies.

Even more rare than PUPPP is a skin condition called prurigo of pregnancy (or papular eruptions of pregnancy), which is characterized by many tiny bumps that may look like bug bites. These eruptions can occur anywhere on your body, but you're most likely to get them on your hands, feet, arms, and legs.

Although the eruptions can be itchy and annoying, prurigo of pregnancy appears to pose no risk to your baby. This condition generally starts around the beginning of the third trimester and may last for up to three months after you give birth.

In very rare cases, a pregnant woman will develop very itchy eruptions that start out like hives and then turn into large blistering lesions. This rash is called pemphigoid gestationis (or herpes gestationis, although it has nothing to do with herpes virus). The eruptions often start on the abdomen and spread to the arms and legs.

This condition is considered more serious than PUPPP because it may be associated with an increased risk for preterm delivery and fetal growth problems. It usually begins in the second or third trimester, but it can start anytime — even in the first week or two after you have your baby.

Pemphigoid gestationis can come and go throughout pregnancy, and it often flares up after delivery as well. It usually happens again in subsequent pregnancies and tends to be more severe.

You should call your doctor. When I first read it I thought of shingles and I saw that someone else mentioned it, too. Another person mentioned the "pregnancy rash". It is called PUPS (puritic urticarial plaques and pustules of pregnancy - I have no idea if I spelled that right, but you get the idea). I had that with my son. It usually only happens in first pregnancies. It can happen in subsequent pregnancies, but not if you didn't have it before. It is a reaction to the hormones being released. It is like having poison ivy all over your body. I got it 4 weeks before my son was born and it didn't go away until about 2 weeks after he was born. Luckily I didn't get it when I was pregnant with my daughter!

If your doctor thinks it is serious enough he will have you come in today instead of tomorrow, but they may tell you to wait. If they do, you could take a bath with the Aveeno oatmeal bath stuff. That helps itchy skin. Also, because you are at 33 weeks, they may allow you to take some medicine and use some creams. I know I did with the PUPS.

Could it just be the pregnancy rash? Isn't there such a thing? Do you have a fever? Try some cortizone cream and just call the dr and ask about it. They might be able to suggest something until you go in tomorrow. I wouldn't think it would effect your baby, but if it's something like chicken pox (which it doesn't sound like to me) then it could be bad. Call the dr just to be sure. Take care!

Herpes is definitely one of those embarrassing and stressful anomalies that we all wish to avoid throughout our lives. Though, sometimes, we have no choice but to endure it. Bad luck I guess, and maybe even the result of the one time you decided not to use a condom.
For myself, I tried all kinds of different treatments and solutions, both prescription and over-the-counter. It seemed like nothing would work or give me any real results. The only thing that I seemed to experience was negative side effects and frustration. Plus, knowing I would have to use these treatments for the rest of my life didn't make things much better.

It wasn't until I checked online for alternative or natural remedies for herpes. Eventually, I came across http://herpestreatment.kyma.info worked like a charm.

With the resources and knowledge provided, I was able to completely rid myself of the herpes condition. Not just treat it, but actually cure it.
Best of all, it was done naturally- and the bumps/warts have not resurfaced since. So, I know how you feel. Herpes sucks, and sucks bad.
It leaves you bitter about the one who gave it to you, and insecure about yourself, and the possibility of giving it to future partners. I understand the dilemma all too well.
However, there are real solutions and options out there. I wish the best of luck to you, and a speedy recovery!

Sounds normal. You can get a rash inside your stretch marks that sounds similar to what you are describing. Also, it could be an allergic reaction to something new in your life........ Have someone help you by putting calamine lotion on it until you can get to the Dr. Calamine wont hurt you and will help with the itch.

I have no idea what you have, but I have heard of a "pregnancy rash" the only way to get rid of it is to have the baby. Hope you don't have it because I think it can be quite bad!

Sounds like shingles,
You really should go to your local hospital and see them immediately. If it is shingles this is nothing to mess with as it can affect your baby.
I wish you all the best in this.
