Would be refers to what one would be in the future. e.g. A fiancee is a wouldbe wife.

To my knowledge.. wouldbe is not a word and as such, means nothing.

On the other hand.. if you typed it wrong and the two words are "would be", then the meaning WOULD BE that something will be.... profess to be.... surely is... surely will be... etc

HOWEVER.. if the word is "would-be" then the meaning is different and becomes an adjective and the meaning WOULD BE: Desiring, attempting, or professing to be:“Would-be home buyers will have a somewhat easier time getting loans” ... Remember, in this case, it is an adjective

It means something is going to be if a certain set of circumstances make it so. An example would be something like saying,----- Sam would be eating ice cream if he has the money. So what this is saying is if Sam cashes his check or has the money on him he will certainly be eating ice cream.
