Well the meaning of life is 43, some computer spit that out way back when.
But life is too complicated to even start to tackle that question. Every life has its own purpose. Our purpose has not been predetermined and therefore, we all are able to make choices for ou purpose.
Every individual has to answer that for him/herself.
There is no one solid answer for everyone and everything.

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

The meaning of life is to live.

Whether you believe in the Giver or not, life is a gift. Our mere existence is an amazing thing...and yes it can be painful and yes it can be joyful and some people seem to have a better time of it than others--but it is truelly a miracle and not one to be taken with disdane or apathy.

So living life, being in life, that is what brings it meaning. Whenever someone gives you a gift...they want you to use it...not to hide it in a closet. My husband always says I need to wear the diamonds he gave me...they were purchased to be on my ears not in a box. I lose everything...they are so precious...but they are just to be enjoyed just like life.

There is no purpose to life just as there is no purpose in a lump of rock. Once you get over that hump life becomes much more interesting.

We are here because we have an unbroken line of ancestors going back around 3 billion years.

There is no meaning to life. Except the meaning we create. It is like asking what is written on this blank piece of paper. Until we write out our story, it has no meaning. Once we create our story the meaning is what we have created.

We are meaning making machines. We may as well consciously make a meaning that serves us and life. Life is much more fun that way.

Wow, that's a loaded question!

My honest opinion? Nothing.

We are biological entities, nothing more, nothing less.

There is no Heaven or Hell. Empowered people from a long time ago developed the concept of guilt and God to secure their wealth from people possibly revolting and taking over their riches.

The concept of souls, angels and demons are all just that, concepts. There are no such things.

So there is no meaning to life. People try to find it, but it's whatever you make it out to be.

This is one of the questions people have been trying to answer since the beginning of humanity. It is a real hard one. May be each one has to find his/her own answer: Mine would be trying to do whatever you want as far as it does not damage anyone around you, respecting social rules that guarantee coexistence. Doing that you will have peace of mind which is what I expect from life

We are completely responsible for creating our own meaningful life. The better question is where does a meaningful life come from? I believe our own love, happiness, and hope comes from helping other people achieve love, happiness, and hope. In isolation our life is meaningless. In our relationships we find meaning.

The purpose of life is to survive and procreate.
This is the common theme for all living organisms (is it right for us to view ourselves different than the other living organisms here?)

42
In Douglas Adams' The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, 42 is the number from which all meaning ("the meaning of life, the universe, and everything") could be derived.
