Please ask:
1) How he going to improve the general "feel good" among staff?

2) is that going to cost heavens?

3) Or will it be paying back as improved satisfaction level among students, parents and all staff.

4) tell him to justify his proposals and weigh if they look original and worthy...

5) Allow him to talk on some local issues in schools and try to catch a few contradictions in his statements. Point it to judge his temperament.

Think why you want an HR man in your school? Just ask him the same. take a judgement among good prospective candidates.

Hope the above will help.

You should divide your questions into categories to cover all aspects of a human resources position.

For example:

Hiring - where do you find new candidates? What is the composition of your staff in regards to contractors / temps / full-time employees?

Benefits - 401k, salary band information, health insurance, etc.

Intrapersonal - how would you deal with X situation? What is the most common workplace dispute? What is the best way to reconcile tension between employees?

Culture - what is the corporate culture of this company? How does this affect the hiring process? What are your turnover and retention rates? How do you promote employees?

Workflow - how do you manage your subordinates? Do you have templates for project management?

If you divide your questions up it will make it easier to organize.

1) Do you help or hinder the interview process between the candidate and his potential supervisor?
2) Aren't you just a very highly paid secretary?
3) What do you do besides being mouthpiece for hiring supervisors?

No offence, but they are useless bums and don't add value. They are just mouthpieces for your eventual supervisor. Most of them are empty up there. They don't have much say in hiring decisions and always give impression they do so they can have a job :)
