Do they still teach that in school?

My son is ten and is learning it now.

I think wayyyy too many adults don't know!

There : a place as in I'm going over there. Put the book there.

They're : is a contraction for two words, they and are. "They're the best baseball team. I heard that they're not going with us."

Their : shows ownership "Their car is in the lake."

If you read the responses on Yahoo! answers, there are plenty of people who did not learn their lesson, and they're doomed to use the wrong words forever.

I learned *there, their and they're* when I was in grade 3, which would've made me 8 years old. And that was a very very long time ago. *grin*

My daughter is in 4th grade and she had the 3 as spelling words on one of her first Spelling tests this year. I think I remember they went over it last year as well. So, probably 3rd grade. :-)
